Biotech Company Announces Groundbreaking
An Indiana life sciences company is planning to break ground next week on a production facility in Greenwood. Zimmerman Biotechnologies LLC will manufacture ingredients and commercialize parent company Elona Biotechnologies Inc.'s technology for generic insulin and other bioengineered drugs.Greenwood, IN – On Thursday, November 4th, a groundbreaking will take place for the initial operating site of Zimmerman Biotechnologies, LLC at a location south of Main Street in Greenwood, Indiana. Zimmerman Biotechnologies, LLC, a subsidiary of Elona Biotechnologies, Inc., reached an agreement with the City of Greenwood in March of 2010 to purchase 8.6 acres from Precedent South Business Center to develop an ultra-modern production facility.
The Groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. at 749 Commerce Parkway West Drive in Greenwood, Indiana.
The scientists at Elona Biotechnologies have discovered a way to streamline the production process of making generic forms of insulin and other bioengineered drugs. The original processes have been streamlined to make them faster and more cost-effective. Elona Biotechnologies has filed an IND for its first product. The IND has been accepted by the FDA and clinical trials are imminent.
Ron Zimmerman, founder and president of the Elona Biotechnologies, Inc. said, “The new Zimmerman Biotechnologies subsidiary will manufacture commercial quantities of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and commercialize our company’s innovative technology in the established multi-billion dollar markets for Drug Products using recombinant protein technologies.” The new facility will allow Elona Biotechnologies, Inc. and Zimmerman Biotechnologies, LLC to focus our efforts to meet the surge in demand for our services as world markets demand biogeneric protein products.
