Electric Car Production Underway
A Norwegian automaker has started building all-electric
vehicles at its plant in northern Indiana. The Elkhart Truth reports
workers at Think North America's Elkhart facility are installing motors,
batteries and other parts in rolling chassis shipped from Finland. The
first care is scheduled to be finished next month.
Think is planning to invest $43 million in the Elkhart facility and create more than 400 jobs by 2013.
The company's North American vehicles will be powered by batteries from Ener1's operations based in Indianapolis.
