Framing up Indiana's Life Sciences Landscape
The number of bioscience jobs in Indiana has grown since 2001, increasing by 17.2 percent and outpacing the national average of 15.8 percent. As the life sciences economic sector becomes more and more prominent, it is crucial that education keeps up with the rapid speed of change within the industry.
Bolstering our science and math education at the K-12 level is
critically important, and BioCrossroads and several other organizations,
including Purdue University, University of Notre Dame, Eli Lilly and
Company, and the Indiana Department of Education, have several
initiatives underway to reform science education, to encourage
professional development for teachers and to increase Advanced Placement
classes around the state.
However, it's also important for the sector itself to keep up with the
leading edge of science, business transactions, policy, and debate
that's happening within our state, outside our borders, and within the
entire biotech industry.
Keeping Indiana's life sciences community at the head of the pack, BioCrossroads has developed the Frameworx
conference series. These brief sessions cover very specific,
educational, and timely topics relevant to different parts of our life
sciences sector.
We are bringing together Indiana's life sciences thought leaders to get
their views and perspectives on hot topics, but it is also an
opportunity for a conversation about these subjects and further explore
their impact on Indiana and the future of the industry.
Dr. Jan Lundberg, Executive Vice President for Science and Technology,
Eli Lilly and Company, and Lilly Research Laboratories President, is
headlining the first Frameworx session: Indiana's Life Sciences Engine:
Full Steam Ahead?
Understanding this ever-changing landscape is vital to maintaining our
strength and advancing our life-changing innovations. We're spreading
the word and sharing knowledge and experience is one of the best
ways to stay at the forefront.
