Packaging Company Adding Jobs in Johnson County
A consumer product manufacturing company says it plans to expand operations in Franklin. Rexam says it will add up to 46 jobs by the end of the year. The London-based company currently employs more than 100 in Franklin.FRANKLIN, Ind. (March 1, 2010) - Rexam, a manufacturer of packaging for consumer products, announced today that it will expand its operations here, creating up to 46 new jobs by the end of 2010.
The company, which manufactures plastic packaging for the health care, closures and personal care industries, along with aluminum beverage cans, will expand its operations at the Franklin site.
"More and more, companies are choosing Indiana as the best place to centralize and more efficiently run their businesses," said Governor Mitch Daniels. "We know Rexam has operations across the country that could have been chosen for this project and we appreciate that the new jobs and investment are coming to Franklin."
Rexam, which employs more than 100 associates in Franklin, will immediately begin hiring for additional manufacturing and supervisory positions.
Headquartered in London, Rexam manufactures plastic products ranging from lipstick cases to prescription pill bottles. The company also produces more than 55 billion aluminum cans each year. Rexam employs more than 22,000 associates in 20 countries.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Rexam up to $250,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $48,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. Up to $100,000 will be made available to the city of Franklin for infrastructure improvements at the site. The city of Franklin will consider additional property tax abatement at the request of the Johnson County Development Corporation.

Rexam's announced plans to expand its production
operations in Central Indiana comes less two weeks after Vortek
Surgical, LLC, a life sciences and biotechnology company, announced it
will relocate its headquarters to Brownsburg, creating more than 60 new
jobs by 2013.
