Unique Deal Helps Secure Dallara
The deal to secure a Dallara Automobili production facility in Indiana for the new IndyCar chassis could also prove beneficial for racing teams and suppliers. In an interview with Inside INdiana Business, IndyCar Chief Executive Officer Randy Bernard says the incentive package from the state is structured to encourage more motorsports-related businesses to set up around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway through a rebate system. The IndyCar Series announced last week that Dallara will make the new chassis, but other companies will be able to use their technologies in the final design of the new cars.
Bernard says that could prompt big auto companies including Ford and General Motors to take another look at supporting the Series.
Dallara will make the new chassis at a new facility in Speedway, near Indianapolis. The company is planning to create more than 80 jobs at what will be its only facility outside Italy.
