Chicago is the location for important exhibitions and conventions in the medical field, such as the Radiological Society of North America annual meeting (60,000 delegates), the Chicago Dental Society annual meeting (40,000 delegates), the American Medical Association (headquartered in Chicago) and the American Heart Association annual show (40,000 delegates).

Illinois offers unequally opportunities for growth in biotechnology. No other life sciences community presents the same blend of research in and commercialization of pharmaceuticals, agricultural and food products, diagnostics, industrial products, and enabling technologies like bioinformatics, nanotechnology, genomics, and proteomics.
