April 2007 - UPS employment in the Louisville area has topped 20,000 and the shipping giant expects adds another 5,000 workers with the completion of a $1 billion expansion of the Worldport air-package hub at Louisville International Airport in 2009/10.
The exorbitant employment figure shows the huge UPS expansion in Kentucky, starting an operation in 1982 with 115 employees.The current expansion increases sorting capacity by 60 %, from now 215,000 shipments to 304,000 handled per hour at the Louisville hub! "
